In the memories of Dr. Jui-Kun Shieh, Chairman of the Taiwan Holistic Cancer Care Foundation, the starting point of his life was both ordinary and simple. He was the eldest of four children. His father, a graduate of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry at National Chung Hsing University, was a key proponent of agricultural reform in Taiwan at the time, specializing in agricultural improvement research; however, there was no medical background in the family, and no one had ever pursued a career in medicine. Following the family trajectory, his life seemed destined to be related to agricultural chemistry or biological sciences, rather than white coats and hospital wards.
